Project of the Year
2026 -2027 Project of the Year Award
ASHE NY Metro will recognize the outstanding work completed by members of our Section with the ASHE NY Metro Project of the Year Award. Projects submitted must be directly related to a field of transportation. Examples of eligible types of projects include highways, bridges, traffic congestion improvements, railroads, public transit, bikeways and shared use paths.
The nominated construction project must be substantially completed between June 1, 2025 and December 31, 2026 to be eligible for a 2026-2027 POY Award and be located within the New York metropolitan area (including NYC, Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester Counties).
One project will be selected for a Project of the Year Award in the Large Projects category with construction cost over $40 million. One project will be selected for a Project of the Year Award in the Small Projects category with construction costs under $40 million. Awards will be presented to the owner, designer and contractor for each category in recognition of excellence in the judging criteria listed below. The winning teams will be recognized and honored at the following ASHE NY Metro presentations:
§ Large POY (over $40M) winner - Tuesday, January 19, 2027.
§ Small POY (under $40M) winner - Tuesday, February 16, 2027.
The nomination packages are due Friday, November 6, 2026
Each submitted package will be judged by the nomination committee comprised of several board members. Each package will be judged based on the following criteria:
- 25% Complexity
- 25% Innovation
- 15% Social/Economic Conditions
- 15% Safety
- 10% Aesthetics
- 10% Meeting/Exceeding goals
- 5% Sponsorship (additional 5% given to annual sponsor firms)
