Scholarship Program

History

Financial aid to high school seniors and college students interested in Highway Industry careers has been a priority of ASHE Sections/Regions and members for many years. Records show several of the Section annual scholarship programs began in the 1980s and there may have been others given sporadically during earlier years of ASHE.

NY Metro Section of ASHE continued its Scholarship program for the 2025-2026 calendar year.

Eligibility:

  • The applicant must be enrolled in an undergraduate program at an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) college / university leading to a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably Civil Engineering.

  • Must attend a college or program located in the Metro New York City.

  • The applicant must submit a completed application.

  • Letters of Recommendation: Each applicant must submit one recent (within the last 6 months) letters of recommendation, from someone familiar with the applicant’s educational and career goals or from someone in the community (such as an employer, clergy, Boy or Girl Scout leader), but not a relative.

 

Past ASHE NY Metro Scholarship recipients are not eligible.

Amount:

The amount of each scholarship and number of awards are based on the funds collected.

Due Date:

The 2025-2026 Scholarship application due date Friday, 2/6/26

Applications must be postmarked by Monday, 2/6/26

Final selection of the scholarship winners will be decided by a scholarship advisory committee (subject to the approval of the Board of Directors of ASHE).
